Heather Hopper

Yoga Teacher

Heather Hopper was introduced to the practice of yoga in 1997. After a few years of sporadic practice, she became a dedicated practitioner in 2002. In 2006, some of her teachers encouraged her to take a teacher training. Soon, she was teaching after school classes at the private school that employed her as a third grade teacher to both her colleagues and to children. A year later, she began her 200 hour training with Alpha Omega Yoga in Dallas with Sheri Cherokee and Rogelio Chapa. Her love affair with teaching yoga turned into a career… In 2010, Heather left the elementary school classroom to pursue teaching yoga to adults, children and children with special needs and learning differences.

Yoga has changed Heather’s entire outlook on life. Not only did yoga help Heather be a better classroom teacher at the time, but a better colleague, partner, and person. Heather enjoys sharing yoga with a variety of groups and individuals with honesty, humor and love. Today, the practice of yoga makes her a better mother to her son, who is her best teacher.

Heather has held an RYT-200 certification since 2007. She has trained in Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga, Yin Yoga, Children’s and Family Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Heavyweight Yoga, Yoga for the Special Child, Therapeutic Yoga, Trauma Informed Yoga, Chair Yoga, Mat Pilates, Meditation, Mindfulness, Aromatherapy, Reiki and is currently an E-RYT 500, RCYT and YACEP registered with Yoga Alliance. Heather also holds a BFA and an Elementary Teaching Certificate, specializing in learning differences and spectrum disorders.

Heather currently teaches group classes to children, adults, and families in the North Dallas and Plano areas. She teaches corporate clients and offers private lessons to adults and children with special needs. As well as teaching yoga, Heather holds workshops, teacher trainings, and yoga and mindfulness retreats throughout the year.

Heather Hopper believes that "yoga is for every body", regardless of their physical state. Her combination of humor, attention to postures and alignment, openness and honesty, and her sheer love of her students and the practice make her classes fun and accessible. Heather looks forward to the practice of yoga sustaining her for the remainder of her life, and wants to share that with her community.
